Reiki
It isn’t easy to define something as intangible, yet real and powerful, as the energy that is Reiki. The word translates as the Universal Life Force Energy, and everything in creation is made of this. “Holy phenomenon” and “Life Force of the Holy Spirit” are also translations of the name “Reiki.” To me, using the Reiki, it feels like the purest, most gentle unconditional LOVE flowing through my hands, drawn by the need of the recipient. It feels like God’s Love made manifest. Asian countries have been aware for centuries that we have a complex system of energy pathways within the human form. These pathways are intended to feed each cell with energy for optimal functioning. They teach many techniques for taking care of this energy system, and for increasing personal Ki (Chi in Chinese) and utilizing it for many purposes. Health, happiness, enlightenment, and self-defense are a few. While there are many techniques for healing using personal ki, the prefix “Rei” tells us that the energy used for Reiki healing is not personal Ki. It is the cosmic life force. There are no limits. If the practitioner is ill or tired, the Reiki transmitted through the hands is not weakened. There are great benefits from attending to our energy systems, keeping them open and balanced. We have all experienced fluctuations in our energy levels. Everyone can FEEL the difference between high and low energy and what that does to our experience of the quality of life. John Diamond, M. D. says in his book “Your Body Doesn’t Lie”, “I have come to believe that all illness starts as a problem on the energy level, a problem that may exist for many years before it manifests itself in physical disease. It appears that a generalized reduction of body energy leads to energy imbalances in particular parts of the body. If we become aware of these energy imbalances when they first occur, we have a long grace period in which to correct them.” With Reiki, we give the body the opportunity of drawing energy to any area that is becoming depleted. We really do not even need to be aware of where these needs occur. The full-body treatment recommended applies Reiki to all the major organs and energy centers. From there it is drawn to any part that is in need. This is true preventive “medicine.” As a culture, it seems to me we have become very symptom oriented (as opposed to health oriented). We want our doctors to give us a drug or surgery to remove the symptoms that are present for the very purpose of telling us we are doing something wrong in our life. If you suffer from heartburn, for example, look at your diet. What brought that symptom to you? Maybe that is a food that does not agree with your system. Maybe the quantity is to blame. Antacids only neutralize the stomach acid that is there for the express purpose of digesting our food. If we suffer from a cold or flu, we request antihistamines to reduce the symptoms so we can go to work and spread the germs around the office. My advice is to listen to your body, give it lots of Reiki, exercise and good nutrition, and watch your health index rise. Health is so much more than freedom from illness. It is a state of vibrant radiance, joy, love, and enthusiasm. A state of energetic participation in the fabric of creation with whatever unique gifts we possess. Can you remember a time when you felt the thrill of being alive? Would you like to experience it again? Reiki has been a major factor in expanding the bliss in my life, and it works on all levels, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual! I have observed a great variety of people as they learn Reiki and enjoy the benefits. Reiki is for everyone, regardless of age, sex, health, level of metaphysical awareness, or belief system. Having these people in my life has been one of the blessings of teaching Reiki. Using it on myself has been the highest blessing in a life already abundantly blessed. How to Learn Reiki
